Workshare Names Alan Fraser President and CEO Veteran CEO with 30 Years of Executive Leadership to Drive Workshare's Next Phase of Global Growth SAN FRANCISCO and LONDON - Sept. 10, 2008 - Workshare, a global leader in content protection and control, today announced the appointment of Alan Fraser as its president and chief executive officer. Fraser was selected based on a track record of building large global distribution channels, his sales and marketing expertise, and leadership capabilities to scale organizations rapidly for success. Fraser has held numerous executive posts including oversight of billion-dollar organizations such as Nortel. Fraser joins Workshare from Astoria Software, where he began as president and CEO and was promoted to chairman in 2007. A seasoned senior executive and serial entrepreneur with more than 30 years of experience in executive roles in both public and private high-technology companies, Fraser's background includes functional expertise in general management, product development, marketing, distribution, sales, operations, and finance. His industry experience ranges from software applications and solutions to semiconductors and telecommunications. Fraser takes over from Chris Doell, who has been the interim CEO, and previously served over four years leading the Workshare services and information technology teams. Moving forward, Doell will serve as executive vice president, group executive of operations, to ensure the highest level of quality for Workshare's products and services, and maintain brand loyalty and customer satisfaction. "Chris Doell did a phenomenal job keeping Workshare on track as we embarked on an exhaustive search for a new CEO. This was a collaborative effort with Chris and the executive committee; they considered a large pool of candidates to identify the most qualified individual," said Jim Caccavo, Workshare board member and founder of Steelpoint Capital Partners. "Alan emerged as the clear choice for several reasons: He has a stellar reputation for leading and building great companies, and he knows how to align teams across all levels of an organization. There is nobody more qualified than Alan to accelerate Workshare's global expansion." "Alan brings the strong leadership and keen strategic vision needed to guide Workshare and strengthen its position as a global leader in content control and protection solutions," said Sean Cunningham, Workshare investor and director of strategic investments at Intel Capital. "Alan possesses that rare trait of knowing how to quickly scale organizations and manage growth. Workshare has added over 2,000 new customers in the last 12 months, and we are confident Alan will provide the company with the skills to continue this phenomenal growth as he takes on this pivotal role as CEO." With well over one million active seats installed worldwide and a customer base spanning many industries, Workshare is ideally poised for continued growth. Technology customers and partners include more than 85 percent of the top 250 Professional Services firms and 99 percent of the AmLaw 200 firms. "I'm thrilled to join this vibrant, high-growth organization," Fraser said. "Workshare has incredible customer, partner and technology assets that provide the building blocks for scaling a business in a large and complex market. The management team and the employees have done an outstanding job in taking the company to where it is today. I am honored to become part of this high-performance team." Prior to Astoria Software, Fraser served as president and CEO of Vertical Networks, where he managed annual sales increases of nearly 70 percent year over year. Before joining Vertical Networks, Fraser was president and CEO at DigitalLink, where he significantly increased company awareness in financial markets; and was president and CEO at MicroUnity, where he moved this private company from development to product. Fraser began his high-technology executive career at Nortel, where he held several key executive positions, including group vice president of Switching Networks, where he managed $2.5 billion in revenue. Fraser also served as senior vice president of corporate services and corporate officer; vice president of marketing, vice president, and general manager, Northern Telecom United Kingdom in London; and vice president and general manager, Meridian Norstar. Fraser is a member of the Certified General Accountant's Association of Canada 1979 (equivalent to being a CPA in the United States).
