Workshare Unveils Open Architecture and New Technology Partnerships

WorkshareOpen Provides Interoperability with the World's Most Powerful and Widely Deployed Content Comparison Technology

SAN FRANCISCO and LONDON - Sept. 10, 2008 - Workshare, the global leader in content protection and control, today announced WorkshareOpen™, a platform that allows independent software vendors (ISVs), system integrators, value-added resellers (VARs) and enterprise IT departments to easily integrate Workshare's industry-leading comparison technology with other business solutions. The company also announced its first three technology OEM partners, Upside Software, QUMAS, and Cryptzone; and two integration partners, Softlinx and Gimmal, that will use WorkshareOpen to leverage Workshare's functionality within their applications.

Workshare's approach to content control and compliance has been proven in the most demanding environments: large law firms, global professional services firms, and highly regulated industries. While these customers are exposed to high levels of content risk, they require unimpeded productivity and a smooth flow of business information. WorkshareOpen makes this combination of security and productivity available to all enterprise applications.

Workshare's document comparison, analysis, and protection solutions ensure document integrity and enforce governance and compliance policies. The WorkshareOpen platform makes it easy to incorporate these capabilities into other applications, via local or web services calls, enabling functional interoperability and consistency for all business processes that incorporate unstructured data. This creates tremendous opportunity for integration with a broad range of enterprise applications, including document and records management; matter and practice management; contract and deal management; governance, risk and compliance (GRC); data leak prevention; email security; workflow; knowledge management; enterprise content management; business process management; enterprise encryption; enterprise resource planning; customer relationship management; and more. Enterprise customers benefit from increased productivity, improved data accuracy, reduced data loss, and enhanced governance.

"As the sheer numbers of digital files grow, the risks related to managing and securing enterprise content are also growing," said Workshare General Manager Babak Salimi. "We've built the most advanced content comparison technology in the world, but until now, it has been available only to us and a few select partners. By providing open access to this platform, we're enabling a whole new generation of more secure and content-aware enterprise applications."

At the core of the WorkshareOpen platform is Workshare's DeltaView Engine. Embedded in over 1.2 million installed Workshare seats, this technology compares documents, analyzes their contents, discovers sensitive information, suggests or enforces appropriate remediation, and provides an audit trail to help enforce corporate policies. Although the WorkshareOpen platform's availability is being announced today, API-level integration with Workshare has already been proven in large enterprise deployments, and several ISV partners are already taking advantage of this open platform.

"We have licensed the Workshare DeltaView technology to perform document comparison functions directly within our best-in-class contract management solution, in order to offer our customers the very best in contract management and collaboration," said Ashif Mawji, CEO of Upside Software, the worldwide leader in contract management software solutions. "Workshare is a global standard for accurate document control and content risk management, and our customers want interoperability and interaction with the Workshare infrastructure they have already invested in. This new combined offering is exactly what the customers have asked for, and we are proud to be the first to deliver it!"

"Our financial services and life sciences customers realize substantial benefit from our integration of the WorkshareOpen platform," said Donal O'Brien, vice president of software engineering at QUMAS, a leading provider of governance, risk and compliance (GRC) solutions. "Firms in highly regulated industries can now stem a significant amount of IP loss, saving millions of dollars while reducing corporate liability." The QUMAS solution facilitates an informed response to compliance challenges across the organization, and provides better overall governance and predictability of business performance as well as meaningful reporting to stakeholders.

"Workshare gives Cryptzone the ability to analyze content in motion across a range of parameters and content policies, which in turn enables us to supply the broadest range of encryption functionality on the market today," said Peter Davin, CEO of Cryptzone, a recognized leader in data leak prevention solutions that secure data at rest and in transit. "With the combination of Workshare's ability to analyze content in motion and Cryptzone's Simple Encryption Platform, users can automatically discover sensitive data in motion - such as in email or when transferred to removable devices - and are given the option of having Cryptzone automatically encrypt and secure that data."

"We have integrated Workshare DeltaView engine with the Oracle Universal Content Management applications," said Hikyu Lee, CEO of Softlinx, an Oracle Certified Partner and a leading provider of e document delivery and enterprise content management solutions. "Oracle users benefit from an expedited, accurate document review and approval workflow process, and ease of collaboration. We will continue to leverage WorkshareOpen technology to add value to the Oracle content management applications by offering document integrity, governance and compliance features."

"Gimmal has integrated Workshare Professional with both EMC|Documentum and SharePoint 2007 using WorkshareOpen," said Mike Alsup, senior vice president of Gimmal Group, an enterprise content management integrator. "Our Workshare connectors support document change management through email, document comparison and review, PDF creation and document security to track and manage versions of documents through the change process. We continue to work with Workshare to enhance the management of enterprise document lifecycles for Workshare customers."

Workshare's large installed base, technology leadership, and established partner network position WorkshareOpen to become the de facto middleware standard for secure document control and compliance. Integration and technology partners that utilize WorkshareOpen will have the right to brand their applications and services with the "Workshare Inside" trust mark.
