Workshare Releases Workshare 3®, version 3.5

150 early adopter customers drive major new features for content change management, compliance reporting, and document security

San Francisco, Calif. – April 27, 2004 – Workshare, the leading provider of content change applications for professionals, today announced the availability of Workshare 3, version 3.5. This major new release allows Microsoft Word authors to interactively view and incorporate changes from many people, audit those changes in various built-in reports, reliably prevent document corruption and integrate with major document management systems - all without requiring document reviewers to have Workshare 3.

New features of Workshare 3, version 3.5 include:

Metadata Security
Workshare 3 now provides easy scanning and powerful reporting functions.

Easy Email Retrieval
Automatically finds and opens emails related to your business documents – even when reviewers change filenames, all from within Microsoft Word.

Audit Tracking
Reporting of all proposed changes made to a document, which is useful for offline working and corporate governance compliance.

Email Restriction
Easily-configurable distribution lists for sensitive business documents.

Architectural Enhancements for Document Management Systems
The new .W3 file allows all changes to Word documents be stored as one file in both Interwoven or Hummingbird document management systems.

“Our lawyers love using Workshare 3,” said Mike Flanders, IT Director, Western Hemisphere at Baker & McKenzie. “The ability to easily turn their documents into PDF, to automatically strip any hidden information out of them, to auto-restrict email distribution and to prevent document corruption, literally saves them hours.”

“According to Gartner, 20% of all work today requires some form of ‘group input.’ By 2007, this is expected to surpass 70%,“ said Joe Fantuzzi , CEO of Workshare. “In order to capitalize on this trend, version 3.5 has over 75 new features directly brought to us by our global customer base that anticipates this huge increase in teamwork.”

"Workshare has accurately identified a growing problem facing many large law firms surrounding the drafting and dissemination of work product," said David Craig, Partner at Baker Robbins. "With Workshare 3, lawyers have a compelling solution for effectively and safely sharing their documents both internally and with their clients."
