Rodyk & Davidson improves Document Integrity Programme Leading Singapore Law Firm Moves Up to Workshare Professional 4 For More Secure, Accurate and Compliant Documents Singapore, 28th July, 2005— Rodyk & Davidson, one of Asia-Pacific’s leading full-service law firms, is implementing Workshare Professional 4, to improve the compliance, accuracy and security of the thousands of electronic documents generated by the firm each year. Rodyk is an IT pioneer in the legal field, and wanted to layer on to its document management systems a more stable, secure and efficient document security solution, adding to its database driven knowledge management system. Workshare Professional 4 will allow its 220 employees to improve the security, tracking, management and control of the changes that are made to electronic documents stored in its computerised systems. Moreover, Workshare Professional 4 will greatly improve internal and external e-document handling processes for its employees and allow Rodyk to enforce effective policy-based risk mitigation and compliance measures for all electronic documents. Workshare’s ability to work with documents that contain multiple languages such as traditional and simplified Chinese was an important determining factor in Rodyk’s decision to select Workshare. The firm has an established China practice, which was started in 1993 by Helen Yeo & Partners which merged with Rodyk in 2002. Helen Yeo, Managing Partner, Rodyk & Davidson said, “Many years ago, before the common usage of emails by corporations, we worked with clients by using paper documents, and it was easy then to see where a change was made in a document because it would be clearly marked. Documents would be printed and delivered or faxed. Only the intended recipients would have access to the confidential information. Collaboration with clients via electronic documents has become the far more productive way to work on documents. In the electronic world, security and accurate processes are more important than ever. Workshare helps us by improving our existing document management and communications systems and firm-wide policies to reduce “inside-out” threats and mitigate document risks for our clients.” “Rodyk is one of many organisations in Asia who are taking document integrity seriously. The findings of the recent Risk of Sharing (Asia) report shows that document security is a priority for a significant majority of organisations in Asia. In fact, 86% of respondents agree that document security is essential for their businesses, but 97% of business users are not familiar with the risks associated with electronic documents. Document integrity should form an important part of every CEO’s operational agenda,” said Andrew Pearson, Executive Vice President and General Manager, APAC at Workshare. Efficient Office, a Workshare reseller and partner, has been selected to implement the solution alongside Rodyk’s IT department.
