WORKSHARE PROTECT ENTERPRISE SUITE GAINS MOMENTUM WITH CUSTOMER,
PARTNER AND MEDIA RECOGNITION
New Standard of Care for Outbound Content Security Emerges to Cure Information Leaks

San Francisco, California. — July 10, 2006
Workshare, the leading provider of secure content compliance solutions, today announced major customer, security partners and media recognition for its Outbound Content Security solution, Protect Enterprise Suite, announced at RSA in mid- February and now in general availability. Among these highlights are:

  • Premier Insurance, Utility and Professional Services firms adopt Protect enterprise-wide
  • RPost becomes a Network Protect OEM
  • PGP Corporation partners to provide content- and client-aware gateway encryption
  • Workshare and its channel partners added 20 accounts with 600k prospective users to its CY06 pipeline, and another 92 new pipeline accounts overall
  • The 2006 Information Security Products Guide recognizes Protect as winner for “Excellence in Content Filtering” and “Excellence in Document Protection”
  • Workshare executives are quoted regularly in business media, with recent stories on information leaks in Associated Press, Government Computer News, UPI and the San Francisco Business Times.

“Content security adoption has been slow because the expectation of a magic ‘bump-in-the-wire’ solving challenging information protection problems was completely naive,” said Peter Christy, Principal at Internet Research Group, a leading market analysis firm. “ An in-depth examination of the real issues suggests quite different approaches in which the system serves to provide clear and immediate feedback to individuals. This both alerts and prevents serious problems but more importantly provides on-going education and training on these important issues. Security is only effective if it is part of doing the job; it can’t be bolted on as an afterthought.”

Christy added, “Workshare is an excellent example of a solution that provides this more holistic approach to the problem by providing a component that is integrated with users’ computers and thus providing comprehensive protection (e.g., not just examining out-bound email) and immediate and pre-emptive user feedback that is a critical element of the actual problem solution.”

Customers and Partners Adopt New Standard of Care
Workshare announced several new customers highlighted by a large global insurance firm starting its phase-one implementation, protecting 10,000 users with Workshare Protect Client and Network Protect, with plans to scale enterprise-wide to 50,000 users. The insurer turned to Workshare after it established that its current first-generation solution does not offer the integrated Endpoint and Network Solution required to prevent true leaks without disrupting business or creating unacceptable policing costs. Other customers include a large oil and gas utility that is deploying the first phase of a planned 18,000-seat deployment to guard against both visible and metadata leaks and enforce regulation compliance, and a top-five UK law firm that purchased Protect for its entire workforce to ensure client information is secured in all documents and communications. These premier organizations join more than 1,000 others that depend on Workshare for content protection, including recent deployments at a leading international management consulting firm, the investment banking division of a global Fortune 100 financial services company, KfW Bankgruppe in Germany and Skadden Arps, the AMLAW 100 #1 law firm in the US.

“When looking for a reliable tool for our employees to discover sensitive information and cleanse their documents and emails, Workshare convinced us with the solution’s ease-of-use,” says Gerd Reinhardt, head of the department for PC management at KfW Bankgruppe in Frankfurt, Germany. “We believe every employee knows best which information is sensitive and which is not. Now with Workshare Protect, our entire staff of 4,000 will be able to cleanse sensitive information at the click of a mouse button. For our bank, this is an important step to further improve the security of document-based communication with our customers and partners.”

Workshare also announced Protect Enterprise Suite partnerships with RPost and PGP Corporation. Workshare Network Protect will be hosted by and incorporated into the RPost email verification service, providing compliance ratings generated by Network Protect into RPost-certified emails. PGP Corporation, a global leader in enterprise data security and encryption solutions, also joins the Protect partner initiative to encrypt content at the gateway with PGP Universal™ based on policy enforcement by the Workshare Protect client.

“We believe the next level of information security is to protect from liability in email-related disputes,” states Zafar Khan, CEO, RPost. “By combining Workshare’s content security with RPost legal proof of content sent and received, users now have the highest level of assurance, confidence and peace-of-mind around the transmission of content to outside parties.”

“Together, Workshare and PGP Corporation are delivering comprehensive email security for enterprise customers,” said Jen Gilburg, director of business development for PGP Corporation. “The combination of Workshare’s content security with the unique PGP® Encryption Platform architecture enables customers to control sensitive communications without incurring excessive infrastructure or management costs.”
