BAKER & McKENZIE LLP SELECTS WORKSHARE FOR INFORMATION LEAK PROTECTION

World’s leading global law firm proactively takes steps to prevent information leaks

LONDON, UK — April 2, 2007 Workshare, the global leader in secure content compliance, today announced that Baker & McKenzie LLP, the world’s leading global law firm, has selected Workshare Protect to further enhance its information security systems and mitigate the risk of information leaks. Baker & McKenzie is constantly seeking ways to proactively ensure information is secure whether it is in the organisation, sent externally via email or on mobile devices such as laptops, PDAs or USB sticks.

Duncan Eadie, Head of IT, Baker & McKenzie LLP, said, “Information security is always an ongoing challenge and we take a proactive attitude of always looking at new ways to mitigate any risks now or in the future. Providing world class legal advice to clients is our primary objective and part of that is ensuring our client documents, which are often highly confidential, are secure whether employees are handling them in or out of the office or over email.”

Baker & McKenzie recognised the growing threat of information leaks from well publicised examples and wanted to proactively reduce the risk by selecting a solution to compliment its already robust information security environment. The firm decided Workshare was the most suitable solution for their business because it was easy to deploy and use, yet still configurable to the needs of its users. In addition, Workshare was also able to support the mobility of the workforce at Baker & McKenzie by extending the security outside the organisation onto portable devices such as laptops, PDAs, BlackBerry and USB sticks.

Andrew Pearson, executive vice president, EMEA, Workshare, said, “Almost every week there is a well publicised example of the regulatory, financial and brand impact of information leaks. We are delighted that the world’s leading global law firm decided to proactively seek a solution to mitigate any risks of information leaks, and not wait like many organisations until the leak has already happened.”

In addition to the selection of Workshare Protect, Baker & McKenzie also plans in the future to upgrade its Workshare document integrity solutions. This will help the firm’s solicitors streamline the document review process and compare files in a faster, more efficient manner.
