We loved the themes that ILTA took on this year.
The overarching ethos of “Building on our strengths to empower our future ” sat at the foundation of the four day conference and fit hand in hand with our own focus around Professional 9.
For this years' show, the Workshare team came to the conference with a mission: to show the ILTA community how Workshare 9 is #1 for attorney productivity. Delivering productivity to lawyers is our principal goal and with Professional 9 - we've removed over 80 unnecessary clicks from every draft of a document. It was great to see the delighted faces of attendees as we showed them our latest offerings! (Join our upcoming webinar to see what I'm talking about!)
The conference itself began on Sunday night, but things really kicked off Monday evening with the opening of the exhibition hall themed “Once Upon a Time .” ILTA did a fantastic job decorating the exhibition hall and attendees roamed the hall, enjoying the food, drink and magical world put on by vendors. Workshare teamed up with Vegas showgirls and The King himself Elvis, to woo passers-by for ‘Once Upon a Time in Vegas’; see the photos from the booth on facebook here.
There were some great speaker sessions dotted throughout the conference this year!
On Tuesday, Owen Oliver from Workshare hosted a spotlight solution session, presenting our newest application, Transact to the ILTA community. The tool is specifically designed to simplify the organisation of a legal transaction, enabling lawyers to minimize the time spent on document admin and get back to the practice of law. Owen, who was a transactional lawyer himself, architectured the product and spent the session discussing the pain points of transactional lawyers today and how Transact can help overcome these problems. If you missed the session or are interested in learning more about Transact click here.
There were also several ILTACON sessions that we appreciated, including the lovingly named “Why the $@!% did I download that?!”; an overview of the risks and rewards of an upcoming mobile revolution. Another session we found interesting was the keynote, 'The Element: How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything' - a truly inspirational talk from Sir Ken Robinson, who drew on the personal stories of high achievers in many fields, including Sir Paul McCartney, Arianna Huffington, Meg Ryan and renowned physicist Richard Feynman.
Over the course of the show Workshare hosted a number of demos and meetings within our hospitality suite of Caesar’s Palace and the feedback from these meetings was great. On Tuesday we held our CIO roundtable, which was also a huge success. CIOs and thought leaders in the legal IT industry took part in a great discussion centred on Data Loss Prevention (DLP) needs and whether firms’ DLP needs are being met by today’s available solutions.
Tuesday also saw the Workshare annual ILTA party. This year we took over FIZZ Las Vegas and with over 150 people attending the event, including several un-named celebrity guests, it was a fantastic evening!
Over the four days we had a number of key announcements that were released to coincide with the conference:
- Monday: We announced that Campbell Killin Brittan & Ray LLC (CKBR), a Denver-based firm, had selected Workshare Transact to improve the efficiency of its legal transactions. The firm chose Transact to host a $225m finance transaction and stated that our application had saved 50% of saved on document-related tasks, 75% of time on preparing closing binders and an 80% reduction in emails circulating files – exciting news for the team!
- Tuesday: We announced that the adoption of Professional 9 has escalated a 25% month-on-month growth for 2015. These staggering stats highlight the need for the software’s significant productivity enhancements.
- Wednesday: We announced our partnership with Konica Minolta, a leader in information management. Konica Minolta’s Dispatcher® Phoenix, now includes the Workshare connector, making this unique software solution better able to automate handling and identification of documents, ideal for the legal vertical market.
Of course, the team found enough time for some extra-curricular activities! Getting to Vegas a day early meant they managed to cram in a trip to the Hoover Dam and mountain-bike riding, among other site-seeing adventures.
